Precision agriculture may be the latest buzzword in circles, but applying innovations to agriculture is a long tradition in America. Farmers live a balance of cautious reserve and creative entrepreneurship. Compared to a tech company who can debug software ideas in seconds the farmer tests ideas over the course of a season, not knowing the results until a year has passed. They look slow in comparison but the truth is a Farmer cannot get away with guess and check. They have to know! and so they learn, study, understand, plan and act. If the tech company makes a mistake, they will find another fund to invest but in the case of the farmer they may have lost generations of cumulative investment.
